Step UP for Somalia - We did it!!!
1 walk. 2 cities. 9 cousins (two more came along for the walk). 303 km. $27,100 raised for the famine for Oxfam Canada to send to the famine survivors in Somalia. And, we did it all in two weeks! Thanks to ALL of YOU!
A lot of people said we couldn’t do it or that it would never happen. But YOU believed in us and in the people of Somalia. A BIG thank you to all of our supporters!! This is our tribute video to you!!!
*Also, a special thank you to the Canadian Government who will be matching every dollar we raised. Which means our total raised dollars will exceed over $50,000 for the famine in Somalia and East Africa!!!!
-Note: You can still make a difference and join the growing youth movement!

I am deeply saddened by what’s happening in my country, and in the region in general. But at the moment I am also incredibly energized by a new sense of optimism. We are seeing a new generation of young leaders who will not take the victim’s seat, but who instead stand proudly with an activated devotion to help their own. This is not the famine of old, this time, we will do the rescuing, but we cannot do it alone and are counting on the support of our brothers and sisters who are in the position to assist us. Think of this as an opportunity to fertilize a new African legacy. Let us together remove the psychological fence surrounding the hearts of the world. This is as important as life itself.
There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them.
We need your help. There are currently tens of thousands of people feared dead in Somalia from the worst drought in 60 years. The United Nations has officially declared the crisis a famine.
On August 5th-8th, in honour of the countless Somalis walking for miles in the drought (without food and water) to refugees camps, seven Somali Canadians will be walking for four days from Calgary to Edmonton to raise funds in support of Oxfam Canada and the Somali famine survivors.
